You have an %26quot;interference%26quot; engine and your timing belt should be replaced every 105,000 miles according to the Gates Timing Belt replacement guide below. Your water pump is driven by the timing belt and should be replaced at the same time. Total cost of the repair: $650

Here's where to get the manufacturer recalls and Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) titles for your vehicle:

Removing the timing belt does take a bit of work. You have to get something to hold the engine up while you remove the engine mounts on that side of the engine which do require a torx wrench or socket, plus the harmonic balancer needs a special %26quot;Chrysler%26quot; puller in order to be removed. You can get one of these at Autozone or any parts store.

The rest is fairly easy with normal tools. You might want to replace a few more things since you already have that side of the engine taken off. I would suggest a new Water Pump because of the location of it would result in the same process for the timing belt. Plus, there is a main seal down where the timing gear is at. You might want to replace that as well. Then last but not least. Check the tensioner....Some neons have horribly made ones then they switched to a hydraulic one.
