How much should it cost to replace a clutch and timing belt on a 2001 Jetta 1.8T? $2000?

I am being quoted around $2000 for a clutch and timing belt with labor included. Is this a reasonable amount for a 2001 VW Jetta 1.8T?

I replaced my Jetta's clutch with a aftermarket clutch which cost about 1400 for parts and labor and timing belts are generally cheap as it is. I personbally prefer aftermarket clutches because they are built for driving fast, chirping gears while standard clutchs are not.

Ask your car guy to look into aftermarket products to see if they can save you some money.
