Can anyone help with my timing belt issue?

Hi. Can anyone advise me as to how i'd know if my timing belt was about to give up?

Im driving an 03 Renault megane with around 30k on the clock. Im aware that the mileage is nowhere near the recommendation from Renault but the age of the car should technically mean the belt needs replacing.

Can anyone advise me as to whether I should get the belt changed and are there any signs I should look for that would indicate the timing belt needs replacing?

Thanks. Can anyone help with my timing belt issue?Hi your Megan is an inter engine which means that if the belt breaks you have big problems .

Renault recommend every 70,000 or 4 years which ever is soonest .

Get the belt changed and cough up few pounds now or leave it and pay hundreds later ! simples ! yesCan anyone help with my timing belt issue?well.. spend a couple of hundred to change the belt or a couple of thousand to replace the engine...kind of makes the decsion easy..Can anyone help with my timing belt issue? If your car handbook says to get it changed, ot if the car is old, then get it changed anyway. It will be lot more expensive if it breaks. It is not worth risking it.Can anyone help with my timing belt issue?Change it at the recommended interval and switch to decaf so you don't get worked up about such things. Can anyone help with my timing belt issue? The belt should still be OK. They are usually changed based on mileage. Actually, how many times the engine has turned. If the car was sitting idle in a constant source of heat for a few years, that is different. If you are worried about it, have your belt inspected by a Renault tech. They should know! If oil has been leaking on the belt for a long period of time, you can expect a lesser belt life. What does your manual say about belt change intervals???? Keep your engine factory clean, always. Use a power washer to preserve belt life and make leaks more apparent. A clean engine is a happy engine!!!!Can anyone help with my timing belt issue?I usually change my belts when it looks worn if i don't know the history of the car, quite a simple job on a renault tho and for the sake of a couple of pounds and a couple of hours on a sunday morning it makes Sense to me, an engine replacement is a big job before a sunday roast. Can anyone help with my timing belt issue?I don't know if you can tell if the timing is about to go...See if you can find out if yours is an %26quot;Interference%26quot; or %26quot;Non Interference%26quot; engine. If it's NON interference, when the belt breaks, it won't damage your engine. I had one break on the freeway and it simply died and wouldn't start. That's how I knew I needed one! Hopefully someone will have the answer for determining when it's about to go...Can anyone help with my timing belt issue?Chances are that visually your belt will look pretty much as new but that does not mean that it not stretched or weakened. Lifespan on belts is always given as mileage or age. One of my sons is a mechanic at a Renault authorised repair garage and says if the belt is 6 years old, replace it! As another answers member correctly says, the cost to have a new belt fitted is a fraction of the cost of replacing a wrecked engine if the belt gives way.Can anyone help with my timing belt issue?usually timing belts are good for 50,000 miles.....

Cross reference a book on your car though to be sure.

Snapping a rubber timing belt can be instantly fatal to your engine.

There is 2 types of piston engine designs........Intrusive and non-intrusive.

intursive designs have the big problems of destroying the engine when it breaks.

non-intrusive will just require a new belt replacedCan anyone help with my timing belt issue?Change the bloody thing.
