Is this a pretty standard service that I could just take my car to a local repair shop or do you think I should go to the dealer. I know the dealer is normally much more money than a local repair shop. Any ideas on an estimate of what the charges would be for replacing a timing belt. How much does it cost to have a timing belt replaced - roughly - 99 honda civic? You will likely spend 350-400 to replace the timing belt and water pump. Most mechanics wont do a timing belt job without doing the water pump. To replace the water pump, you have to take the timing belt off, so it is best to replace it while you are in there, so you don't have to pay another 300 when the water pump goes bad.How much does it cost to have a timing belt replaced - roughly - 99 honda civic?A local family run shop is a good idea . The labor book probably says about 4.5 hrs but many mechanics can do it a lot faster is right tools. So it be about 280.00 plus taxes and about 35 to 50 bucks for the belt. But again check around bec someone that's done several of them might be willing to do it for a lot less like 250.00 for labor and parts.
Hope that helps and best of luck.By the way they recommend every 50,000kms after-wards or so to change it again. How much does it cost to have a timing belt replaced - roughly - 99 honda civic?timing belt cheap... but the labor can be from 280 to 300. It is really good to do, but it cost tons. I just did it on my accord. It killed me to pay that much money to install something so cheap. Wish I was able to do it my self....How much does it cost to have a timing belt replaced - roughly - 99 honda civic? The timing belt will be about $350, but if you just go to the dealer and have them do a 90,000 mile service it'll be about $1,200 (they may have discounts). You may end up saving in the long run with the 90k mi service.
