How do i figure if the timing belt needs replaced or retimed or if its the distributor ?

my vehicle is a 1996 acura integra ls i broke down the other day in traffic while idleing when my car turns over the timing sounds off i took the valve cover off and the belt itself looks fine and has a tiny bit of slack in it i need to know if this could be the distributor or if i need to reset the timing again? How do i figure if the timing belt needs replaced or retimed or if its the distributor ?Don't think it will be your timing belt,if your motor is cranking over your valve timing shouldnt be too bad.check your log book for replacement intervals for your timing belt.it could possibly be your distributor, crook coil or ignition module.possible fuel supply problem aswell.without looking at it its hard to diagnose.can usupply more info?cheers
