I recently changed the water pump and timng belt. I did the mark and match method. The car started but it seems to be off timing. How can i adjust the timing or reset this??

Thanks In Advance. How to reset the timing belt on 99 beetle 2.0 engine?Wow your lucky. Thats a very easy engine to bend valves on. The only way to make sure you got it right is to take everything apart and line it up. They have a tool to lock the crank and cam so they do not move while you install everything with out that your just guessing again. How to reset the timing belt on 99 beetle 2.0 engine? The timing belt is around 4.5 to 5. to replace if done at the dealer. The engine at idle is not a interference, but around 2400 rpms it will bend valves. It is not difficult to change, but you will need an engine stand, as you need to remove the right engine mount. If it is something you would like to do, I can post the info from the manual, but I can not acess it tonight as they system is down for maint.
