How do i locate the timing belt on my 1999 honda accord sedan?

the 4-cyl. engine has a clicking-like noise when idling. the seller of this car says the timing belt was replaced, but i'd like to know for sure. How do i locate the timing belt on my 1999 honda accord sedan?so just take the engine halfway apart and u can see it for yourself!

:D Its pretty deep inside behind and underneath a lot of metal. Dont forget your engine hoist, floor jack, and tools! You are DEFINITELY gonna need those.....shop manual wouldnt be a bad idea either. How do i locate the timing belt on my 1999 honda accord sedan?Timing belt has a plastic cover, needs to be removed then you can check it. you can't do it yourself unless you know what you are doing.

if the seller said it was done ask him to give you a repair invoice and take it back to the same garage as it could be timing problem (tappets) that will save you a lot of money.

p.s I am assuming and responding to your seller suggestions it may not be true, however it is hard to know without listening to the engine at a close distance.

good luck mate. How do i locate the timing belt on my 1999 honda accord sedan?Hi,

The timing belt has nothing to do with that %26quot;clicking%26quot;. That noise is called tappet noise. This will be particularly prominent when the engine is running warm and idling.

Solution: Get your tappets adjusted.

HTHHow do i locate the timing belt on my 1999 honda accord sedan?there is no way to tell if it has been replaced, since the owner was driving it after they installed it. the only was you know for sure is to have been there or check with the person who put it in.are you sure the clicking is coming from your fuel rail. you need to find out what part of the engine the noise is coming from, it might not even be coming from the timing belt. is the clicking at the top, the bottom, back,? the main thing is you need to isolate the noise, then go from there.
