Does a 1997 Chevrolet Cavalier have a timing belt that needs to be changed every 100, 000 kms ?

I am looking at buying a 1997 Chevrolet Cavalier. It has 82,000 Kms. on it and was a fleet vehicle. Any experiences with a 1997 Chevy Cavalier ? How about the the timing belt ? Thanks for any suggestions.Does a 1997 Chevrolet Cavalier have a timing belt that needs to be changed every 100, 000 kms ?NO!

97 2.2 or 2.4 both have a timing chain and gears

no timing belt

these engines and trans-axles have proven to be very reliable

owned 97 4 door had 149,000 miles when we traded in

son had a 99 2 door 170,000 when we sold it had to replace air conditioning compressor at 150,000

both had to have alternators replaced in the 125,000 area which was over 6 years on eachDoes a 1997 Chevrolet Cavalier have a timing belt that needs to be changed every 100, 000 kms ?timing belts are recomended to be changed every 100,000 kms. but my parents venture and alero are both way over 100,000 without a change lolDoes a 1997 Chevrolet Cavalier have a timing belt that needs to be changed every 100, 000 kms ?That is going to be up to the owner you if you buy the car if it were me i would change it as for i drive every thing i own hard and it would be cheaper and less time consuming to change it at the 100,000 mile mark but not knowing how you drive is a whole different story
