About how many hours of labor would it take to replace a timing belt (on a 93 dodge intrepid)?

I've been told that I need a new timing belt, and that it will cost about a thousand dollars to fix it. That figure seems a bit high to me, but I don't know how many hours of labor are involved and would just like a ballpark figure as to what the reality is from an impartial source. Thanks.About how many hours of labor would it take to replace a timing belt (on a 93 dodge intrepid)?wow run away any mech wit chrysler exp will get this job done in like 4 hrs even wit taking out rad cond assembly i charge 85 a hour so it would be 340 for labor at most 140 bucks for w/p and 90 for t/b unless it needs acc belts hoses etc price shop it but don't go wit cheapest price u pay for what u get good luckAbout how many hours of labor would it take to replace a timing belt (on a 93 dodge intrepid)? If the belt broke while driving, you're going to need more than just the belt.

Those engine are what's called %26quot;interference%26quot; engines.

When the belt breaks, the piston hits the valves and does internal engine damage.

You may consider buying another car all together.

ADDED:

Oh, and not another DODGE.

Buy a Chevy. They last a lot longer and use timing chains, not belts.About how many hours of labor would it take to replace a timing belt (on a 93 dodge intrepid)?1000 bucks where what shop your at best you call three local shops

8 hrs maybe and price is kind of high but that depends on where your at city state shop best to shop a round might even be higher at some places but thats not outrageous for parts and laborAbout how many hours of labor would it take to replace a timing belt (on a 93 dodge intrepid)?More like $400-$500. I used my own zip code - use your own in the first source for a better estimate.

Edit - it appears the 3.3L V6 does not use a timing belt, but the 3.5L does. That engine is not listed as interference so a failed timing belt should not cause damage. Be warned Gates is not always correct about that.
