Mechanics? hey i have a 1995 eclipse and the timing belt is loose and the tensioner is messed up?

how much would it cost on average to replace a timing belt and tensioner, i have both of those peices i jus need an estimate for the labor costs. so all you mechanics and former mechanics please help give me an accurate estimate.Mechanics? hey i have a 1995 eclipse and the timing belt is loose and the tensioner is messed up?On any 4 cylinder motor that is used in a 1995 Eclipse the normal labor for a timing belt job which includes replacing the hydraulic tensioner and pulleys if needed is 4 hours. This also includes the balance shaft belt and tension pulley.

An additional 1/2 hour labor is charged if you have the water pump replaced at the same time. If it's the 2ed timing belt at 120,000 miles make sure you do the water pump.

If a mechanic needs 8 hours to do this work he's not competent or just ripping you off.Mechanics? hey i have a 1995 eclipse and the timing belt is loose and the tensioner is messed up?I JUST DID ONE AND I CHARGED $500.00,AND IT TOOK ABOUT 8 HOURS STEADY!Mechanics? hey i have a 1995 eclipse and the timing belt is loose and the tensioner is messed up?if the timing belt is loose and the tensioner is messed up you may also have some bent valves if it messed up with the engine running. so may want to put some time into a compression test before replacing the parts only to have to pull them back off. last timing belt i did took about a days labor (6-8 hrs or so) and cost right at $400.
