How much do you thing it would cost to replace the timing belt in a 1999 Jeep Cherokee??

Mine is getting close to the 100K point, so I figure it may be due for a new timing belt. How much do you think it should cost to replace? Also, can I put this off for a while if the Cherokee is still running fine? Thanks! How much do you thing it would cost to replace the timing belt in a 1999 Jeep Cherokee??i'm not real sure if this does you any good at all, but i have a 99 Honda Accord and a new timing belt is gonna cost me around $500.

May be somewhere in that range. How much do you thing it would cost to replace the timing belt in a 1999 Jeep Cherokee??$0. Belts are used mostly on crappy little Japanese 4 bangers. Your Jeep uses a chain with sprockets. Much less maintenance required. How much do you thing it would cost to replace the timing belt in a 1999 Jeep Cherokee??For some reason I think you've a timing chain rather than a belt?

Is it a 4.0 engine?

In any event it'll be quite expensive; however my view is (assuming you want to keep the car) get it done at Chrysler.

That way you'll know all the parts (cogs, shoes etc) associated with the chain have been replaced and you'llnbe good for another 70K.

To replace any chain on worn running gear is not good; this rapidly exacerbates chain wear. How much do you thing it would cost to replace the timing belt in a 1999 Jeep Cherokee??If you have a 4.0L there is no timing beltHow much do you thing it would cost to replace the timing belt in a 1999 Jeep Cherokee??Doane has it ,there is no jeep, any year ,any engine that has a belt. don't worry about it your jeep will act up way before the chain completely goes so you will have a warning.Unlike belts that wil snap and destroy a good engine without warning.
